Modern Dentistry is about comfort and convenience for every patient. In situations which a tooth cannot be saved with a filling or porcelain onlay, a dental crown is usually the next best choice over tooth extraction. Due to advances in prosthodontics, dentists are able to incorporate Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) to craft a suitable replacement that can be ready the same day.

First Impressions

Dentists previously had to take impressions of the tooth and send the forms off to a laboratory in which the technicians and artisans would create and shade the tooth to match the surrounding teeth and send it back to the dentist office to be placed at a second appointment. A temporary crown would be worn between visits.

When Dr. Perry uses the CEREC machine instead of traditional impression methods, it adds about 45 minutes to the appointment due to the time it takes to scan, design, mill, and deliver the permanent the restoration. However, since there is no need for a temporary crown or a return appointment, overall time and effort by the patient is minimized.

Dr. Perry has invested in extensive training in becoming proficient with CEREC and CAD/CAM technology. Greater efficiency and complete control of restorative outcomes are just a couple of the many benefits to patients because of this technology. In most circumstances, crowns and onlays can be milled in-office and delivered the same day without the need for a second visit.

What is CEREC?

CEREC is an acronym for:

  • Restoration: restores your tooth to its natural beauty and strength
  • of Esthetic: materials used are metal-free and tooth-colored
