Cone Beam X-Ray (3-D imaging)
CBCT 3D Imaging Technology
Dr. Andrew Perry offers Cone Bean Computed Tomography, also sometimes referred to as cone beam scan. Dental cone beam is a special type of x-ray machine used in situations where different diagnostic information is needed than regular dental x-rays provide.
Sirona 3D Imaging goes beyond traditional diagnostics and treatment capabilities by calculating a large volume 3D image set, more than 500 exposures, in a single low-dose 3D scan of 15 seconds or less. After a scan, the software shows not only high-quality 3D image displays, but also enables clear navigation and diagnoses for Dr. Perry in the traditional panoramic, cephalometric, and cross-sectional displays.
Benefits of CBCT 3D technology:
- More certainty with diagnosis, ie. making difficult diagnosis easier
- Best image quality, at an extremely low dose
- Quick, easy, and comfortable scan of the mouth, face, and jaw
- Integration with Cad/Cam data for planning guided surgeries
- Simplified sharing of images with specialists for interdisciplinary care, if needed.
The patient will be placed offset within the radius and the CBCT scanner will rotate in motion around the head capturing images as it goes around. Certain areas of the mouth or jaw can be targeted depending on the patient’s oral health needs.
The Cone Beam X-ray uses less radiation than traditional/medical CT, and is a quick and easy way to ascertain a bird’s eye view of the patient’s entire oral and facial structure. Most people find the benefits of CBCT technology to be of assistance to them and their dentist in terms of their dental care and resolution of problems. We are proud to offer advancements in technology which further serve the health and well being of our patients.
